Vacuum or extractor for a commercial carpet?
Routine vacuuming, spot treatment and extraction: choose based on fibre, soil and drying time.
Where to start
A vacuum picks up dry dust and debris. An extractor applies and recovers a solution to wash a compatible carpet. These tasks complement each other: vacuum before extracting. If the carpet, backing or drying window does not permit wet cleaning, stay with an approved dry method.
For routine care: remove dry debris
Match the head to the fibre and carpet instructions. A powered brush is not suitable for every textile. Compare access under furniture, transport, bags and filters before selecting a model.
For washing: check the textile and drying
Confirm colourfastness, backing and installation conditions. Test a hidden area following the manuals. Plan solution recovery and complete drying before reopening the area.
For a spot: work locally
Identify the stain before adding a spotter. A portable machine can target a patch or stairs without washing the entire room. The tool, method and product must suit the textile.

Frequently asked questions
Does an extractor replace routine vacuuming?
No. It washes compatible carpets using a wet method; dry vacuuming remains the preparation and routine pickup step.
Can I extract when the carpet instructions are unknown?
Confirm compatibility first. Until then, choose only permitted dry vacuuming with a suitable head.
